El Gotham Independent Film Awards se trata de uno de los dos festivales más importantes en lo que a cine independiente se refiere. La ceremonia de entrega se llevará a cabo el 28 de Noviembre en Nuw York e incluirá tributos a celebridades como Charlize Theron, Gary Oldman, David Cronenberg y Tom Rothman.
Para que un film califique para ser considerado, debe tratarse de "filmar con un punto de vista, donde la visión de un director, productor o guionista sea evidente y donde la película no pueda ser definida como un trabajo hecho por contrato".
